How we handle directory information
Our aim is to help people find the right location and ask useful questions. We separate business facts, source limitations, and general planning information.
Business information and source review
Directory research starts with business records and historical listings. Names, locations, contact details, categories, and possible duplicates are reviewed together.
Official location pages and relevant institutional sources support the published listing details. Editorial review focuses on branch identity, location and funeral-related activity.
Locations and service categories
A branch is listed in its actual city. Nearby results show the establishment's own city rather than treating it as a local branch. Distances are approximate straight-line distances in miles, not driving routes or travel times.
Pet aftercare is separated from human funeral and cremation services. A cemetery, monument seller, school, or other related business is not automatically a funeral home.
Directory results are ordered alphabetically. If you choose the nearby feature, results are ordered by approximate distance calculated in your browser. We do not personalize results using browsing history or a user profile.
How listing details are maintained
Published listings combine branch identity, address, contact details and operating hours from the directory's reviewed sources.
Historical pages are assessed for continuity and usefulness, while corrections can be submitted through the directory contact page.
Planning guides and corrections
Guides link to official sources for consumer rights and Iowa-specific requirements. Source check dates describe the editorial check, not the date a rule took effect. We do not present unverified averages as current Iowa prices.
Corrections should include the listing address, the specific change, and a public source that supports it. Submitted changes need review before publication. See contact and corrections.
